The other day I had the pleasure of having lunch with Lisa Martin who is WORDS on WAX. We were discussing how to get her beautiful candles out into the market.
I think a candle with a lovely message is great for a wedding ceremony. It is a great visual reminder that someone special has passed.
Also for a ceremony within the wedding - two separate family candles and then one larger candle for the couple to light together. Great for incorporating a number of different people into this special part of the ceremony. Sometimes its Mother's or family members that light the family candle.
The candles are also great for remembrance at funerals and memorial ceremonies. There is something very special about having a candle burning.
So I have invited Lisa to say a bit more about her candles and I'm also interested in what made her get into this lovely business. There is no doubt it will grow quickly when more people get to know how special the candles are.
Hi I’m Lisa from Words on Wax and like you Julie, I think there is something beautiful and emotionally warming about burning a candle, something symbolic about lighting a candle and what that represents. There are many celebrations and occasions where incorporating a candle or the lighting of a candle can enhance and add meaning to your special occasion.
· A Unity candle as part of your Wedding Ceremony celebrates the joining not just of two people, but two families, and as you said Julie, can give family a special part to play on your special day.
· A candle to Remember Loved Ones who can’t be with you on your special day is a lovely way to acknowledge that they are there with you in your heart.
· A candle to remember somebody special that you have lost. It is beautiful to have a candle burning during their funeral or memorial service, but equally special is burning a candle to remember your loved one on special occasions like birthdays or Christmas or just when they are in your thoughts.
· And the list goes on, Baptisms, Anniversary’s, Births, Milestones, or simply messages of love and inspiration…
How did Words on Wax begin? I have always loved creating and I was looking for something different & uniquely special for my Mum for Christmas. So I made a candle with a Christmas picture on it. I loved the result and that’s when the possibilities and ideas started, and really, haven’t stopped. I fell in love with candles, not only what I could put on a candle but what that could mean and how they could enhance and bring something special to a celebration. The possibilities are endless, you are only limited by your imagination.
I love being able to create unique and meaningful candles for each individual customer, and feel humbled by the feedback I receive about what they meant.
