I knew before the wedding that this was going to be a great wedding. A few things. Firstly, the rehearsal was held in my driveway. Lucky we have a vacant section across the road because anyone who has been here to our home knows on the hill there is limited parking. But parking in the driveway and across the road allowed the four bridesmaids, 4 groomsman, 6 parents and flower girl to all be present. We walked through the wedding ceremony and after lots of laughter they were on the road.
The bride, Emily - had told me the day before their makeup artist had rung to say they had double booked and would be there at 7.00 to start. That was unacceptable and they found someone else. I am disappointed in the wedding industry when people get let down. It shouldn't happen.
Also there was a bridesmaid who I had married a few years earlier. Have to blog Clare van Zyl and Chaz’s wedding as well sometime.
Then on the wedding day, I arrive and find Brendon from Boogie Beats was on music; Heather and Doug (The Heather and Doug Records) were on photos; a lovely woman from the Terrace Downs team was setting up the wedding ceremony location and along came Jono the Videographer (Jdsmit Productions). Working with that team makes me feel young. A nice fun group and everyone spark off each other to make for a nice relaxed yet professional fun day.
The Robertson and Knudson families gathered as families do at weddings, together with friends who were going to make for a lovely wedding atmosphere. We were ready to make it happen and then we waited.
Distressed grandparents arrived a little later than normal. They had unfortunately got lost. The microphone didn't work I just had to use my loud voice. But at the end of the day it didn't matter we got them married with a simple ceremony and I pronounced their name correctly. Yes Mr and Mrs (K)Nudson.
They have amazing photos from Heather and Doug and I know everyone had a brilliant day.
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Knudson, have a long and happy life together.
They have kindly let me share some of their beautiful photos on this blog.
Loved Emily’s response to my question – are you ok with my blog?
“You have really captured our day and did very well pronouncing the surname.
It is definitely a name I will forever be spelling for people lol.
Thanks again Emily."
PS: On the same day another Celebrant in the North Island married a Mr and Mrs Knudson.
I wonder if the couples are distantly related.
