You know those feelings you have as you build up to a special event? For me yesterday was a special event as we made history. After every big event there is always the next day as you reflect on what you did, the emotions you experienced and beautiful things that were said. There was also apprehension on my part. Yes, despite having performed many ceremonies. My apprehension was directly related to "my boys" Tony and Warren. Would they like the ceremony I put together for them. Thankfully, they did and it would appear the vows were very appropriate. They were so pleased with their day and it was indeed my honour to share it with them.
For me today - phone calls, emails, ceremonies, appointments - lots to catch up on. There was no reason not to jump into it with energy and enthusiasm. The only challenge is after you make history you have to dig deep to rise to the level necessary to do the everyday tasks. If you are in any doubt about what was achieved yesterday you just need to look at this news clip that Hamish Clark did for the 6.00pm news last night. Probably the only time I will be saying essentially the first sound byte for the 6.00pm News.
