I knew the wedding was going to be perfect on Saturday for Carol and Dave.
During the preparations I knew Carol had an attention to detail and was a list maker - two great qualities to bringing a lovely wedding together.
We had a rehearsal on Friday and on Saturday the guests made good time,
most of them, so the ceremony started pretty much on time at 2.00pm.
We were at Rossburn Receptions at Rangiora and Ian was there doing the
music for the ceremony. He always does a great job and I got to meet his
wife - their wedding anniversary - 22 August. Can you guess how many years
they had been married? Fifty-one years and you can imagine I suggested we
get the family from all around the world to come home in four years’ time and
we do a renewal of vows ceremony. Not sure if they are keen but I have a
few years to convince them of the wisdom of my idea.
So a special day to marry for Carol and Dave.
Carol had one of her brothers, Eric give her away and her other brother Ivan was the photographer. Keeping things in the family Carol's beautiful nieces - Cassandra and Jovana came forward to light candles in memory of family members no longer with us. We had Dave's two sisters Clare and Lou to share the popular wedding reading "On your Wedding Day". Then we had Dave's brother Mark to do the Blessing for a Marriage, written by James Dillet Freeman.
I really think the only thing done by a non-member of the family was Mike, the best man who had the rings.
Can't forget Carol’s bubbly daughter, Sarah- Jane who was the bridesmaid nor Merv, an uncle of Dave who was the MC and was able to hopefully, have everyone on the Wedding Photo app.
All in all a pretty relaxed wedding with heaps of family pitching in to pull everything together. Purple my favourite colour was the theme - purple weddings always make my heart sing.
Congratulations Dave and Carol, now husband and wife.
Wishing you a wonderful live together as husband and wife.
