It is indeed true I love my job. It is official and it is on record. Let me tell you why!
Yesterday, for most people it was just another day in their lives doing the ordinary things they do every day of their lives.
For Kylie and Annie, two amazing woman from Victoria, Australia this week has been like no other.
On Wednesday last week they flew into Christchurch and came here because of me. They told me they found the smiling celebrant and that is what made them decide to fly here to marry. At the Novotel Hotel in Cathedral Square they had a few days with two guests/witnesses as they enjoyed punting and the other
highlights of our challenged city.
Mariessa Waddington and Mia arrived on Saturday, 14 June 2014, to ever be a very special day at the Novotel Hotel and did the hair and makeup for my beautiful brides. They looked lovely and dressed beautiful, no white bridal dresses in sight.
At 4.00pm I was waiting in reception to meet Lisa, Annie’s Sister. She escorted me up to meet Kylie who was dressed and ready. Kylie had been the one who had sorted everything with me via Facebook and Email. So it was really lovely to meet her. Kylie said “she was pleased New Zealand is so close for them and their friends to come over for the weekend”.
Then I went down to the room which the Novotel staff had prepared with rose petals, flowers and candles. Boau and James, Kylie’s friends of 10 years having worked together were there to keep me company as we waited for the others to arrive. Deano was next, he had been friends to Annie since 1997 and he told me he had been encouraging Annie to find love for eight years.
Lisa, Annie’s sister another beautiful woman arrived and we waited for the lift to return with the two brides. They told us after the ceremony, they came down in the lift with two people, who they told, they were going to get married, and they just looked at them!
Lisa shared with me, that her and her sister were very close. Also that Annie had a real journey to get to this point and feels no one deserves happiness, more than Annie and Kylie. They are so meant to be together and the perfect match in her view.
So we had the ceremony – two brides, myself and, two witnesses and two guests – seven of us in total. Annie shared her very special vows first followed by Kylie who had equally special vows. Both woman shared their own story, essentially it told of having finally found the person they were meant to be with.
The ceremony was over to quick obviously, because they wanted to do it all again. A good indication it was what they wanted.
Bubbly all around and lots of photos, lots of hugs and congratulations.
Then I left for them to celebrate with dinner and whatever other entertainment they could find.
I wish Kylie and Annie, a long and happy life together, as life partners! Two amazing woman that I have had the pleasure of marrying. I really do love my job.
