I have been told, that I have been the most proactive person working in the Canterbury wedding industry to support the gay community.
I didn't make a conscious decision to be the leader, although my star sign sign is a leader. My husband says that I am busy doing things while everyone else around me, is still thinking about it.
So it comes to who inspired me, to write this blog! I give away Kate Christie Photographer vouchers on a regular basis and the joy of giving is just reward. The vouchers themselves are wonderful as you go along for this fun experience. You get made over and feel so special. The bonus is you are positioned in such a way to enhance your best features so you get amazing photos.
A lovely young women by the name of Jo, won such a voucher. She said in her message "I love your page.
I myself am a lesbian and hope to use you as my celebrant for my wedding, one day. You're an inspiration."
I post reguarly, with the hope that I make same-sex couples feel great and have the same acceptance as they seek to marry and celebrate their love. I have also set up a page which is where those in the wedding industry can list themselves if they are gay friendly. So much nicer for couples to seek out business people who are comfortable and feeling positive about what they do. The link is at the bottom of this blog along with my dedicated Facebook page. I also have a Civil Union Facebook but really don't believe there will be many more because the desire to marry is strong. Same-sex couples are no different to any other couple. They meet; fall in love; get engaged; plan a marriage; get married, and I always hope, live happy ever after. The ceremonies are pretty much the same, couples tend to want it unique, but based around traditional wedding ceremonies. Partners for life, and maybe Mr and Mr, or, Mrs and Mrs. Whatever the couple desires will be delivered.
Oh I do look forward to my next same-sex marriage - the energy around the ceremonies is electric.
Jo that beautiful young women who won the voucher gave me this feedback.
"It's beautiful I really liked it. I found it very insightful, honest and it had a lot of heart to it. I feel honoured to get a mention in it, thanks heaps keep doing what you're doing, you are making a real positive impact to our community."
